Su-re.co, CIFOR-ICRAF, and TigerMov Unveil 43,000 Hectare Restoration Vision in Bali at Asia-Pacific Climate Week 2023

Johor Baru, Malaysia – November 2024 – su-re.co, Bali-based think-do-be tank, in collaboration with CIFOR-ICRAF, presented their ambitious 43,000-hectare agroforestry and restoration project in Bali during Asia-Pacific Climate Week 2023. The project aims to restore critical ecosystems, enhance biodiversity, and promote climate resilience for local communities, marking a significant milestone in sustainable land management.

This event featured a diverse panel of experts including a researcher from SEI, a scientist from CIFOR-ICRAF, a student from Dyatmika High School, the COO of TigerMov, and the CEO of su-re.co, who shared insights on the role of agroforestry in addressing both environmental and social challenges. The restoration project will be implemented in Bali’s Batur UNESCO Global Geopark, known for its cultural and environmental significance.

"In approaching the 43,000 hectares, we want to include agroforestry because we are not only focusing on carbon reduction, but also the social benefits," said Takeshi, CEO of su-re.co.

In April 2024, su-re.co signed an MoU with the Forestry Agency Bali (DKLH Bali) to restore 43,000 hectares of degraded land. This partnership emphasizes the importance of collaboration in achieving large-scale restoration efforts. su-re.co’s role will involve implementing agroforestry practices that not only rehabilitate the land but also improve the livelihoods of local farmers through climate-smart agricultural practices.

The presentation at Asia-Pacific Climate Week showcased su-re.co’s ongoing efforts to align environmental goals with community needs, focusing on nature-based solutions that offer long-term benefits. As a leading advocate for climate-resilient practices, su-re.co is working closely with CIFOR-ICRAF to promote solutions that address climate change while enhancing social well-being.
